Just a quick post...

I actually finished a new painting today!  I am really trying to budget my time between my 3 days off and working out at Haleiwa Art Gallery (come see me!)...I am getting better at it...not perfect...but I am pleased that I got a canvas out of the prep stage and suitable for viewing!  Here it is  (I am going back to a series I did a few years ago...this one is called "Tatouage - Bamboo Grove").  Stay tuned for more!

This and That....

It has been pointed out that I have been derelict in my duties where it regards my website....too true!  Just want to let all of you that visit this site from time to time that, yes, I am stilling alive and kicking...and extremely busy!  Sales of artwork have increased dramatically out at the gallery (Haleiwa Art Gallery) which can only bode well for the future!

I was also blessed this month to sell two of my own pieces -- "Morning Becomes..." and "Ho'oma'alili"  ...two larger pieces after a year of selling mostly small ones.  Punahou Carnival was also a success in the sales department, with the piece i showed you all previously, as well as several others, selling.  It looks like I have alot of work to do to "restock" my inventory! (That's a good thing!)

To all of you that come to check my website...thank you for your continued interest in my work, and continued support of it...there are some new things out a ways on the horizon, which I will let you know about as soon as they are firmed up...in the meantime...please keep checking back here.  I will be posting some new work in the 'originals' gallery in the next couple of days.

As always...mahalo nui loa!

Its that time of year again!

The Punahou Carnival is back!  The carnival itself is Friday and Saturday, February 4th and 5th, on the campus of Punahou School.  More importantly, for all art lovers, is the annual Carnival Art Gallery, which is available for viewing (and purchasing) throughout this week!  I hope you all can make it...as well as my work, there are many artists showing their work for sale, and for a good cause (50% of the proceeds go to scholarships).  Hope to see you there!!

Here is one of the pieces I have there:

Fun Stuff!

Lots of things going on...a sign, I hope, of an ever up-ticking economy!  Possibilities abound with proposals out here and there.  And then the HUGELY fun opportunity I received last week...I've had 10 pieces selected to be used in the new George Clooney movie, "The Descendents"!  This is even better than the time or two I had pieces used on "Lost"!

Does this make me a star? ....nah....but its a nice little feather in my cap! Woo Hoo!!

...and of course I can't close without showing a new painting.  This is "The Old Wailua Sugar Mill"

catching up....

Well I've been MIA for the past couple of months, haven't I?!!  Between working at Haleiwa Art Gallery and then trying to run a business at the same time, I've found my computer communications have taken a huge hit!

The other thing that has taken a hit, up until recently, has been my painting.  I have discovered (or re-discovered, perhaps) that painting for a living entails ALOT more than just painting...there's checking on galleries to make sure that they are well stocked, filling orders for items in the reproduction product line, doing my book-keeping (yuck), making phone calls...well the list goes on!  Somewhere in between all of that, I have to find time to do the thing that got me into all of that other stuff - painting!

After getting some major things off the to-do list, I have finally settled back into painting - and settled down into the knowledge that I'm not going to be finishing pieces as quickly anymore, and that its okay that it took me a day to figure out what I wanted to paint next -- its all just another phase in the life of Sandra Blazel, artist!

Hope your "phases" are working out for you too!  Aloha!!!
